Opening of the Society for the Promotion of University and Economic Relations

7th November 2006 in the Freiburg University Peterhofkeller

With the University and Economy Support Group Freiburg University aims to move into a new dimension of collaboration with the regional economy. The opening of the new, Open Forum on 7th November 2006 proved how great is the interest from both parties with regard to expanding and consolidating the relationship. Almost 200 visitors from small business and retail industry used the opportunity to look through the “window to the University”.

“A window to the University” was the motto of the evening, at which the various academics, institutions and centres of the University presented themselves in the atmospheric “Peterhofkeller” on the eve of the 550th anniversary.
Following the greeting by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Wolfgang Jäger and the Managing Director of the WVIB (Trade Association) Dr. Christoph Münzer, the guests used the opportunity to speak with university experts, who had been presented by Prorector Prof. Schneider in an informative and entertaining round of introductions.

Research co-operations, graduate and trainee placement, and advanced training were just a few of the topics actively discussed at the 20 information stands. The University showed a taste of what they have to offer their economic partners from the region.
In the coming months the University plans to continue and intensify this dialogue in response to the overwhelming desire expressed by the guests present that the “window to the University” should open even wider in the years to come ….
